Neal Barnard, MD The Power Foods Diet for Easy Weight Loss
May 12, 2024I’m joined by Dr. Neal Barnard, President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, and Shauné Hayes to discuss Dr. Barnard’s new book, The Power Foods Diet.
The Power Foods Diet, released March 26th and available for pre-order: https://a.co/d/9mYktmQ
I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Neal Barnard, MD and Shauné Hayes where we talked about some of the compelling weight loss principles, strategies and tips covered in ‘The Power Foods Diet’. I personally have been following Dr. Barnard’s work closely since my time transitioning to a more plant-based approach almost 10 years ago. It was a pleasure to have him join me for this interview. In particular, we discuss the 3 main concepts in ‘The Power Foods Diet’ and the research that supports them:
1) Appetite-taming
2) Calorie-trapping
2) Calorie-burning
Despite some minor issues with audio quality as explained in the introduction, I’m delighted with the helpful information shared by both Dr. Barnard and Shauné Hayes (Shauné has a remarkable weight loss story which she kindly shares with us) and I’m 100% confident that their insights will be valuable to you watching this.
You will find more information about Dr. Neal Barnard and Shauné Hayes below, as well as links to relevant social media and other resources. Once again, I wish to thank Dr. Barnard and Shauné for spending their Saturday morning with me (of all days!) to help bring us this excellent information. Shauné Hayes had always been a yo-yo dieter, eventually reaching 278 pounds. She suffered from hypertension, prediabetes, chronic arthritis, and other lifestyle-related conditions. In 2017, a health scare turned into a wake-up call for Shauné. She began working with a health coach and slowly transitioned to a whole food, plant-based diet. She lost 100 pounds and was able to stop taking five prescription medications. She made beans, legumes, whole grains, fruits, and vegetables the centerpiece of her meals. “These power foods are really a remedy,” she said. “I’ve found a way to enjoy food I’ve always loved in a much healthier way. And I know it’s possible for other people to do the same.”
